How to Configure Battlecard Fields as an Admin in Playwise HQ

About Battlecard Configuration

Playwise HQ gives account administrators full control over the structure of competitor battlecards. Through the Battlecard Configuration settings, you can decide which tabs and fields are visible when your team creates or edits a battlecard, which fields are required versus optional, and in what order tabs appear.

This means you can tailor the battlecard experience to match your team’s workflow. If your organisation does not track certain competitive data — for example, key customers or pricing strategy — you can hide those fields entirely so they do not clutter the form. Conversely, if certain information is critical to your sales process, you can mark those fields as required to ensure they are always completed.

Key Benefits:

  • Simplify the form for your team — Hide fields and tabs that are not relevant to your sales process, reducing form clutter and making battlecard creation faster.
  • Enforce data quality — Mark critical fields as required so your team cannot skip important competitive intelligence.
  • Control tab ordering — Arrange tabs in the order that makes the most sense for your workflow.
  • Cascade to dashboard filters — Market Position field visibility automatically controls which filters appear on the battlecard dashboard, keeping the interface clean and consistent.

What You Need to Know Before Configuring Battlecard Fields

Admin Role Required

Only users with the Admin role can access and modify battlecard configuration. Editors and Viewers do not have access to this section. If you are not an Admin, you will see a permission notice.

Subscription Plan Requirements

Battlecard configuration is a Pro feature. It is available on Pro, Enterprise, and Trial subscription plans. If your account is on the Free plan, the configuration section will be disabled and you will see an upgrade banner prompting you to upgrade to Pro.

Configuration Affects All Users

Any changes you make to the battlecard configuration apply account-wide. All users in your account — Admins, Editors, and Viewers — will see the updated form structure when creating, editing, or viewing battlecards.

Fields That Cannot Be Changed

The Overview tab is always visible and always appears in the first position. It cannot be hidden or reordered.

The Competitor Name field is always visible and always required. It cannot be hidden or made optional.

A Step by Step Guide on How to Configure Battlecard Fields as an Admin in Playwise HQ

Follow these steps to customise which tabs, sections, and fields appear in your account’s battlecard forms.

Step 1: Navigate to Battlecard Configuration

  1. Log in to your Playwise HQ account as an Admin.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Settings sidebar on the left, click “Account Configuration” to expand the section.
  4. Click “Battlecard Configuration” (it is the first sub-item under Account Configuration).

You will see the Battlecard Configuration page with the heading “Battlecard Configuration” and a description: “Configure which tabs and fields are visible and required when creating or editing battlecards.”

Step 2: Understand the Configuration Layout

The configuration page is organised into two types of sections:

The Overview Section (Fixed)

The Overview section combines three related groups of fields into one expandable card:

  • Basic Information — Competitor name, description, and website URL.
  • Market Position — Competitive threat, market penetration, pricing strategy, growth trajectory, market positioning, and sales strategy.
  • Key Details — Strengths, weaknesses, key industries, and key customers.

This section is always visible and always appears first. It cannot be hidden or reordered. You can, however, configure the visibility and required status of individual fields within it (except Competitor Name, which is locked).

Standalone Tabs (Configurable)

Below the Overview section, you will see individual cards for each of the remaining tabs:

  • Win/Loss Themes — Reasons why you win or lose against a competitor.
  • Objection Handling — Common prospect objections and response strategies.
  • Products — Competitor product portfolio with descriptions, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Field Insights — A view-only analytics tab (no configurable fields).
  • Win Loss Analysis — A view-only analytics tab (no configurable fields).

Each standalone tab can be hidden, reordered, and have its fields configured.

Step 3: Show or Hide a Tab

To control whether a tab appears in the battlecard form:

  1. Find the tab card you want to configure (e.g., “Objection Handling”).
  2. On the right side of the card, locate the “Visible” toggle switch.
  3. Toggle the switch on to make the tab visible in battlecard forms.
  4. Toggle the switch off to hide the tab entirely.

When a tab is hidden:

  • The card’s opacity dims to indicate it is inactive.
  • The tab will not appear when users create or edit battlecards.
  • Any fields within the tab are automatically treated as not required.
  • The tab’s reordering controls are disabled.

Your change is saved immediately and a confirmation notification appears.

Note: The Overview section has a lock icon and its visibility toggle is disabled with the label “Always Visible”. It cannot be hidden.

Step 4: Reorder Tabs

To change the order in which tabs appear in the battlecard form:

  1. Find the tab card you want to move.
  2. On the left side of the card, use the up arrow and down arrow buttons to move the tab up or down in the list.
  3. The tab’s position number updates automatically.

Ordering rules:

  • The Overview section is always fixed at position 1 and cannot be moved.
  • The up arrow is disabled when a tab is already at the highest possible position.
  • The down arrow is disabled when a tab is already at the lowest position.
  • Hidden tabs cannot be reordered (the arrow buttons are disabled).

Your change is saved immediately.

Step 5: Configure Individual Fields

To configure which fields are visible and required within a tab:

  1. Find the tab card you want to configure.
  2. Click the expand button on the right side of the card (it shows a field count, e.g., “4 fields”). The card will expand to reveal a table of all configurable fields.
  3. For each field, you will see a row in the table with the following columns:
ColumnWhat It Controls
FieldThe field name and a brief description
VisibleToggle switch — show or hide this field in the form
RequiredToggle switch — make this field mandatory when creating battlecards
NotesStatus information (e.g., “Always visible & required”, “Linked to dashboard filter”)
  1. Toggle “Visible” on or off to show or hide the field.
  2. Toggle “Required” on or off to make the field mandatory or optional.

Each change is saved immediately.

Important field configuration rules:

  • Hidden fields cannot be required. If you turn off a field’s visibility, its “Required” toggle is automatically disabled.
  • Competitor Name is locked. It is always visible and always required. You cannot change it.
  • Parent-child relationships apply to Products. The Products tab has a parent “Products” field and three child fields: Product Overview, Product Strengths, and Product Weaknesses. If you hide the parent “Products” field, all child fields are automatically hidden and their toggle controls are disabled. A “Parent field hidden” note appears next to each child field.

Step 6: Understand the Impact on Dashboard Filters

The six Market Position fields have a direct relationship with the dashboard filter sidebar:

  • Competitive Threat
  • Market Penetration
  • Pricing Strategy
  • Growth Trajectory
  • Market Positioning
  • Sales Strategy

When one of these fields is visible, its corresponding filter appears on the Dashboard sidebar, allowing users to filter battlecards by that criteria.

When one of these fields is hidden, its corresponding dashboard filter is also hidden.

Step 7: Reset to Default Configuration (Optional)

If you want to undo all your configuration changes and restore the factory defaults:

  1. Click the “Reset to Default” button in the top-right corner of the configuration page (identified by a circular arrow icon).
  2. A confirmation dialog will appear: “Reset to Default Configuration?” with the warning: “This will reset all tab visibility, ordering, and field requirements to their default values. This action cannot be undone.”
  3. Click “Reset Configuration” to confirm, or “Cancel” to keep your current settings.
